Last 5 Days of the Kickstarter!

Posted in Uncategorized on August 18, 2013 by bradd

My new Kickstarter comic book project – OPEN MIC NIGHTMARE – is down to the final five days! If we can meet the funding goal by Friday afternoon, the book will be published, and backers will receive lots of fun rewards. We’re currently at 64% funded, and I’m very thankful for the support the backers have shown. Besides the book itself, there are lots of rewards to choose from like original art pages, custom commissions, an exclusive print, stickers, bookmarks, finger puppets, and more. If you have a moment, visit the project here and see if it’s something you can get behind. Thanks!

I’ll be keeping it local this Friday through Sunday with Monstercon! It’s pop culture extravaganza being hosted at Furman University’s Timmons Arena. In addition to vendors, artists, and authors there will be several notable celebrities like David Prowse (Darth Vader), Chris Sarandon (Jack Skellington), Alex Vincent (Child’s Play), and several folks from THE WALKING DEAD.

I’ll be a guest of the Richard’s Comics and Collectables mega-booth along with Van Jensen (Pinocchio Vampire Slayer, Green Lantern Corps) and J Chris Campbell (Wide Awake Press, Neatobots….and the promo images on this page).

Hope to see you there!

Free Comic Book Day & Hickory Con

Posted in Uncategorized on May 18, 2013 by bradd

It’s been a busy, but fun few weeks.

I had a fantastic time at Free Comic Book Day.  As has been the case for the past several years, I was a guest at my local shop – Richard’s Comics and Collectables. Richard and his staff always do a fantastic job of putting on a fun, family-friendly event. It was great to see some familiar faces and meet some new folks as well. Some good friends from my college days even stopped by with their little ones. I drew a ton of free sketches (in a non-alphabetical way) that included a wide variety of characters like Frankenstein, Batman, Iron Man, Mordecai and Rigby from REGULAR SHOW, Spider-Man, Captain America, Deadpool, Bane, Scarecrow, Catwoman, Adventure Time, Wreck-It Ralph, Wonder Woman, Red Hood, Jack Skellington, and even a few from my old comic series GLOOMY ROOMIES.

An example of the quick, free, non-alphabetical sketches I did all day. Rigby from REGULAR SHOW.

I sold tons of  prints, shirts, and even a few originals.

The next weekend brought us another fun installment of Hickory Con. There I met a cartoonist new to me – Johnny Townsend. He does great, full-color sketch cards at a very reasonable price. We did an art trade where I picked up a swell Rigby as Rocket Raccoon as well as commissioning a Mouse Guard piece for my wife.

I did a fun Spider-Man commission (which I didn’t get a good photo of) for my pal and comics-dealer-extraordinaire – Dave Hinson of Dave’s Comics in Fort Mill – in exchange for a primo book I’d been after. I also finally found the only issue I was missing from the complete run of one of my favorite Vertigo comics – FLINCH. It was good to see Duane Ballenger back at the show as well. I’m looking forward to reading his new mini-comic. The always-entertaining Brockton McKinney and Bo Fader from Lost Story Studios were also there giving the zombie-treatment to pop culture like no one else.

Thanks to Time Tunnel Comics and Timmy-Mac’s Comics and Games for having me out to Hickory Con. It’s always a pleasure.

Next convention: Monstercon.

Greenville Comic and Card Show!

Posted in Uncategorized on April 2, 2013 by bradd

The best little comic show in SC returns! I’ll be a guest artist at the Greenville Comic and Card Show on April 20th in Greenville, SC. The show runs from 10 am – 4 pm and admission is only $2 for adults ($1 for kids). This is a small show, but great deals and good times abound. There’s some fantastic restaurants nearby like India Palace and Pita House as well as two great comic book shops within a mile or so of the convention site. Here’s a flyer I made (sans alphabet this time out). I’ll be at the show with lots of new Alpha-Sketch prints and some great deals on t-shirts and collages. I’ll also be taking on-site, black-and-white sketch commissions for cheap. Hope to see you there!
